Soohyun Juhn is a Seattle-based Cellist from South Korea.Â
Dr. Juhn earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin under Bion Tsang. She also completed her Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music under Steven Doane. In Korea, Soohyun graduated from Seoul Arts High School and earned her Bachelor of Music degree with high honors from Yonsei University under Sung-Won Yang.
As a chamber musician, Dr. Juhn was selected to perform at the renowned Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. as a part of the Conservatory Project Series. She was a finalist of MTNA Competition and Arriaga Competition and a winner of the Seoul Solist Cello Ensemble Competition. Her trio was invited to attend the Banff Centre Chamber Music Residency. She participated in masterclasses led by renowned musicians such as Leon Fleisher, the Gryphon Trio, Peter Serkin, Juilliard Quartet and Tokyo String Quartet.
She is actively performing with local musicians in Greater Seattle area. Currently, Dr. Juhn is a Principal Cellist of the Seattle Philharmonic and a member of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra.
